Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, have confirmed that Trycina Whitehurst, 23, has died following a violent attack at a residence in Greenville County. Whitehurst sustained obvious and visible injuries during the incident and was pronounced deceased after emergency responders arrived on scene.

According to investigators, the case remains under active investigation, pending the results of an autopsy to be conducted by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. The findings from the autopsy will help determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The incident unfolded shortly after 12:00 a.m. at a home located in the 700 block of West Parker Road. Greenville County Communications received a 911 call reporting an attack at the residence. Deputies responding to the call arrived to find Whitehurst suffering from severe injuries consistent with a violent assault. Despite efforts by first responders, her injuries proved fatal.

Authorities say the suspect fled the residence before deputies arrived. An immediate search was launched in the surrounding area; however, those efforts were unsuccessful, and the suspect has not yet been located. The suspect is described as a Black male, last seen wearing camouflage pants and a black jacket.

Investigators believe the incident was isolated and have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time. Officials also indicated that the victim and suspect were known to one another, though the exact nature of their relationship has not been publicly disclosed.

Law enforcement officials continue to follow leads and are urging anyone with information related to the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. As the investigation progresses and additional details become available, authorities say further updates will be released.
