In Loving Memory of Hector Sanchez, 55, Killed in Tragic Two-Vehicle Collision on Shakertown Road in Boyle County

On Sunday morning, January 18th, 2026, a tragic two-vehicle collision in Boyle County claimed the life of Hector Sanchez, age 55, of Burgin, Kentucky, leaving family, friends, and the wider community mourning a sudden and heartbreaking loss. The Kentucky State Police, Post 7 in Richmond, were contacted just before 11:00 a.m. in reference to the collision that occurred on Shakertown Road (KY-33) in Boyle County.

According to the initial investigation, Hector Sanchez was operating a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis and traveling southbound on Shakertown Road when two wheels of his vehicle exited the roadway. As he attempted to regain control and re-enter the road, the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, where it collided with a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound. The Silverado was driven by Ernest Robinson, 67, of McKee, Kentucky.

As a result of the collision, Hector Sanchez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Boyle County Coroner Eric Guerrant. Ernest Robinson was transported to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he continues to receive medical care.

This tragic incident has deeply affected all who knew Hector Sanchez. At 55 years old, his life was one of meaning, connection, and presence—woven into the hearts of his loved ones and the Burgin community. He was assisted at the scene by personnel from the Kentucky State Police, Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, Boyle County EMS, Boyle County Fire Department, Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, and the Boyle County Coroner’s Office. Authorities continue to work diligently to determine all factors that led to this devastating crash.
