LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. — A quiet Sunday morning turned tragic after a devastating crash claimed the life of a young woman from Allenhurst.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a 20-year-old Allenhurst woman, later identified as Kortney Jackson, was killed in a head-on collision reported shortly after 6:00 a.m. Sunday. The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 84/GA 38 and John Martin Road, near Liberty County High School.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper Christopher Cronsell stated that witnesses reported a 2016 Honda Civic, driven by Jackson, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane when it collided head-on with a 2025 Genesis GV70.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. Jackson was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, where she was later pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Genesis GV70, identified as an adult male, was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Authorities reported that he was conscious and alert at the time of transport.
Due to the severity of the collision, U.S. 84/GA 38 was closed for several hours as law enforcement conducted a thorough investigation. Georgia State Patrol continues to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
