Police have identified Mr. Vasques as the victim in this heartbreaking incident, marking Guam’s first traffic fatality of 2026, according to the Guam Police Department.
On Saturday evening at approximately 5:45 p.m., Guam Police Department dispatch received a report of an injured individual at a residence in Dededo. That individual was later identified as Sonny Carl Laguana Vasques. Emergency medical personnel responded swiftly and found Mr. Vasques unresponsive, without a pulse and not breathing. He was transported to Guam Regional Medical City, where medical staff worked diligently in an effort to save his life.
Despite those efforts, Mr. Vasques was pronounced deceased at 9:22 p.m. by Dr. Michael Monson, officials confirmed. The loss of his life has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
The Guam Police Department has stated that Mr. Vasques’ next of kin has been identified, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing. The operator of the automobile involved was interviewed by officers as part of the investigation.
