BRADENTON, Fla. — A devastating act of workplace violence shattered a medical and office complex in Bradenton Thursday afternoon, leaving one woman dead and another employee critically injured. Bradenton Police have arrested Keith Roberts Jr., 29, in connection with the shooting, which occurred in the 5200 block of 4th Avenue Circle East.

Police say officers were dispatched at approximately 12:48 p.m. following multiple reports of gunfire inside a suite of offices within the complex. Investigators determined that Roberts entered the office space and confronted Myshaela Burnham, 29, his former girlfriend, before opening fire. Burnham suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the violent encounter, an office employee who witnessed the attack was also targeted and sustained serious injuries. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she remains hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities have not released her identity at this time.

The office where the shooting occurred was later identified as a laboratory processing facility, heightening concerns about safety in what should have been a secure professional environment. Witnesses both inside the building and nearby immediately provided critical details to responding officers, including descriptions of a vehicle seen fleeing the scene moments after the gunfire erupted.
