He proudly served with the Springfield Fire Department for 24 years, retiring in 2018 as a fire equipment operator. Throughout his career, Willis was known for his reliability, quiet strength, and unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of the Springfield community. Incident Details

According to the Springfield Police Department, officers responded to a reported crash at approximately 7:54 a.m. on January 20, 2026, in the 1600 block of North U.S. Highway 65.

Investigators stated that Willis King, 57, of Fordland, was traveling northbound in a 2008 Buick LaCrosse when he struck the rear of a 2014 Dodge Ram driven by Robert Caton, 34, of Nixa. Following the initial impact, King’s vehicle left the roadway to the right. The collision caused a chain reaction, resulting in the Dodge Ram striking a 2021 Ford Explorer driven by Alyssa Tapio, 35, of Rogersville.
