PORT ALLEN, La. — A devastating early morning crash on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge Parish has claimed the lives of Kelvanisha Stanley, 20; Kareem Felder, 19; and Jacoby Brumfield, 20, three young residents of Hammond, Louisiana, leaving families, friends, and the wider community in deep mourning after the tragic loss.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop A, troopers responded shortly before 4:00 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 eastbound near milepost 144, just outside Port Allen. Upon arrival, troopers discovered a vehicle that had been involved in a violent collision and was fully engulfed in flames.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Kelvanisha Stanley was driving a 2025 Kia K4 eastbound in the right lane of Interstate 10 near milepost 144. For reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle crossed the left lane, entered the center median, and struck several trees. Following the impact, the vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, leaving little chance for survival.
Emergency responders worked quickly to secure the scene and extinguish the fire, but Stanley, Felder, and Brumfield were all pronounced deceased as a result of the severe injuries sustained in the crash. At this time, investigators have not released details regarding possible contributing factors such as speed, impairment, or seat belt usage, as the investigation remains ongoing.
The tragic loss of Kelvanisha Stanley, Kareem Felder, and Jacoby Brumfield has sent shockwaves through the Hammond community. Each of the young victims is remembered for their bright spirits, close bonds with loved ones, and the promise of futures that were just beginning to unfold.
