A fatal late-night shooting in Michael’s Village has left 42-year-old Nikisha Rose dead and a man hospitalised, as investigators work to determine how a targeted attack unfolded in a public area late Friday night.
According to confirmed information from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, the incident occurred at approximately 10:30pm near the G&E Parking Lot in Michael’s Village. A man and a woman were travelling together in a motor vehicle when an unknown assailant opened fire, striking both occupants while they were still inside the vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported the victims to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for urgent medical treatment. Despite medical efforts, the woman—later identified as Nikisha Rose of Parliament Street, Gray’s Farm—succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 11:25pm. Her death has sent shockwaves through her community, leaving family, friends, and residents grappling with yet another act of gun violence.
The male victim, also a resident of Gray’s Farm, survived the shooting and remains hospitalised in stable condition. Authorities have not released his name at this time.
Preliminary investigations suggest the gunfire was directed specifically at the vehicle, indicating the attack was intentional rather than random. Police have not disclosed whether the victims were followed prior to the shooting, how many shots were fired, or whether the assailant fled the scene on foot or by vehicle. No motive has yet been established, and no arrests have been announced.
Investigators are now working to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the shooting. This includes tracing the victims’ movements before they arrived in Michael’s Village and determining whether surveillance footage from nearby businesses or private residences may have captured critical moments before or after the attack.
The location and timing of the shooting—late at night in an area known to be active—have raised broader concerns about public safety, access, visibility, and emergency response in locations frequented after dark.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone who was in or around Michael’s Village on Friday night, or who may have seen or heard anything unusual near the G&E Parking Lot around the time of the shooting, is urged to come forward. Information can be provided directly to the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913, or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
For now, a woman has lost her life, a man continues his recovery, and a community waits for answers as investigators pursue every lead surrounding the fatal shooting that occurred on Friday night, January 23rd, 2026.
